What Do I Want and What Do I Need?
Before you can really know what you want you must know clearly the difference between "wants" and "needs." Think for a moment, what do you really need?
A girl once told me, "I need a boyfriend." I answered, "If I gave you this choice; would you choose air or a boyfriend?" She laughed and exclaimed, "Air!" I replied, "You want a boyfriend; you need air."
We can't be truly happy and at peace if we put our wants above our needs. We can't truly enjoy the pleasures we desire when needs are not being met.
There are many opinions on what the basic human needs are. I like lists that begin with life. You can't enjoy life if you don't have it. Dead people no longer enjoy life in this dimension. So, what do you need most in life?
How long can you live without air? Only a few minutes. What' next? How long can you live without water? Food? What do you really need and what do you want?
What I Want
Now that you know the difference between what you need and what you want you should start choosing specific goals to work on bringing into your reality. The more detailed you can describe these goals the easier they are to visualize. You can then begin planning actions that bring what you see in your mind into the reality you see around you now. All things around you began in the mind. Every invention, every physical object began in the mind of a person or God.
